Starting Your Travelers Claim

Travelers policies are often sold through independent agents, so your first call may be to your agent, but claims can also be reported directly to Travelers online, in the app or by phone.

When you come in, it helps to bring your claim number, your adjuster's name and phone number, your policy card and any photos you took at the scene. If you do not have all of that yet, bring the vehicle anyway and we will help you work out the rest.

Do I Have to Use a Travelers-Recommended Shop?

No. Travelers may suggest shops, but Kentucky law gives you the right to choose where your vehicle is repaired. If you choose AutoMax, we work with Travelers on your behalf. We submit our estimate and photos to your adjuster and answer their questions so you are not stuck relaying messages.

Hidden Damage and Supplements

An initial estimate often misses damage that is only visible once panels and bumpers come off. When we find something extra, we stop, photograph it, write a supplement and send it to your Travelers adjuster for approval before continuing, so your claim and your repair both stay accurate.

If Your Car Is Not Drivable

Tell your Travelers claim representative where the car is, and ask whether your policy includes towing and rental reimbursement. We can start the estimate as soon as the vehicle arrives, and structural damage is checked with a full structural damage assessment.

Travelers Collision Claim FAQs

My policy is through an independent agent. Who do I work with on the claim?

Your agent can help you open the claim, but the claim itself is handled by a Travelers representative. We send estimates and supplements to that representative.

Can AutoMax repair a vehicle that is still being investigated?

We can inspect and write an estimate while your Travelers claim is being reviewed. Repairs should only begin once you and your claim representative agree on the scope.

Will my Travelers repair include ADAS calibration if it is needed?

If the repair touches bumpers, windshields, mirrors or sensors, cameras and radar may need recalibration. We will tell you when that applies and include it in the repair plan. See our ADAS calibration service.
